The Regulator Movement: Source

This article was full of great, solid information about the Regulator Movement. This article, however, goes into detail about the Regulator Movement in North Carolina. It also gives the reasons behind the movement, why the farmers rebelled. I found this source to be very helpful, organized, and reliable.

The Regulator Movement: Pictures

This picture depicts some of the Regulators fleeing across the North Carolina Mountains and beyond the Proclaimation Line in 1763. Many chose to move to Tennesee where they could not be weighed down by the eastern government. Later, the regulators that fled were re-named the Overmountain Men. These were the men that re-crossed the mountains and aided the Patriot's victory in the American Revolution in the Battle of King's Mountain.

The Regulator Movement

In North Carolina, a powerful movement of white farmers was organized against wealthy and corrupt officials in the period from 1766 to 1771, exactly those years when, in the cities of the Northeast, agitation was growing against the British, crowding out class issues.

The Regulator Movement is interesting to me because it happened in North Carolina and I had never heard of it before.

I would like to learn more about what exactly the "Regulators" did to over throw the corrupt, wealthy people in North Carolina.
